Thermax scores a logistics high

Thermax recently executed a major project for the Samref Refinery at Yanbu, Saudi  Arabia  through  their  consultants,  Foster  Wheeler, UK. A 939 ton modularized  flue  gas cooler (FGC), manufactured for use in their refinery process was assembled at the Mundra facility and despatched from the Mundra Port.
The  scope  of  the  project  included  design,  manufacturing, inspection, testing,  transportation,  erection  and  commissioning  of  the unit.  The performance test of the equipment was witnessed by teams from Samref, Exxon Mobil  (a  joint  partner of Samref) and Foster Wheeler. It is worth noting that  the  foundation  which  supported  the earlier 20 year old cooler was constructed  way  back  in  1984. One of the highlights of this project was that  even  after erection, the cooler along with its additional structures did not exceed the load bearing capacity of the foundation.
The   total   consignment   with  the  trailer  weighed  1100  tons.  While transporting the system to the port, to ensure safety traffic was halted at Mundra.  A  special by-pass road had been built to cross over the creek and power supply through the high tension transmission lines switched off.
With  the  success  of  this project, B&H manufacturing and TECC teams feel ready and prepared to take on similar challenging assignments.
